LGBT+ Catholics Westminster

Masses welcoming LGBT+ Catholics, parents and families in Westminster Diocese first began in May 1999. Numbers increased and the community developed over the years so that in 2013, His Eminence, Vincent Cardinal Nichols mandated the LGBT+ Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council to promote pastoral support with the following agreed Terms of Reference:

  • To identify the pastoral and sacramental needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans Catholics, their parents and families;

  • To take part in 2nd & 4th Sunday 17.30 Masses at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street, providing readers, extraordinary minsters of Holy Communion, and music accompaniment, and to be responsible for the planning and organisation of faith-development activities relevant to LGBT+ Catholic communities;

  • To communicate with the Archdiocese of Westminster on matters of pastoral care relating to LGBT+  Catholics, their parents and families.

Mgr. Keith Barltrop is Chaplain and our Liaison with Cardinal Nichols, and available for pastoral support.

The parish team at Farm Street also offers pastoral care.

The LGBT+ Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council is elected from among regular and active members of the 17.30 Mass congregation.
